Little Fuss-POMegranate
I HAVE NO PATIENCE FOR FIGHTING WITH A POMEGRANATE.
I'm not lazy and I could have just bought the seeds (and I have), however, that takes some of the fun out of it. Part of the enjoyment of food is being able to use all your senses, and I take great pleasure in PLAYING WITH MY FOOD, even if I have to battle it!
Here's my " just a touch of fuss" POP THE POM seeds trick!
Referred too as Nature's most labor intensive fruit (Qoute from Food Companion), we're going to make this as easy as possible so that you're not "backin up" when you spot it in the grocery store and desperately hunt for its seeds or juice. LAZY!
Start by cutting the tops off. Then slice it into quarters. You will make a mess.
Fill a bowl with water and place the pieces in the water.
Take your hands and start peeling away at the skin, you might burst a few seeds, there's no dodging this, I'm not aggressive with the fruit, but I have little patience and if I burst one or two so be it.
DON'T WEAR WHITE!
Peel Peel Peel until you're left with the white flesh floating bits in the water and the seeds all sunken to the bottom.
You can drain the water, or I just take your hands and dig em out.
Place in a bowl and they're ready for whatever you'd like to marry them with!
I recommend:
- Adding them to salads for a touch of sweetness
- (I'll be adding them to my roasted pumpkin arugala salad for Tukey Day!)
- Toss them in your cereal, oatmeal, yogurt
- Add them to your baked goods, muffins, cookies, etc.
- Eat them plain as a snack
